Digital painted character or scene, these often have varying outcomes since my digital painting style is frequently revisited and revised.
Add-ons such as backgrounds or alternate image versions will incur fees. These vary based on the quality of the commission (sketch/render/etc) and the complexity of the add-on.
Backgrounds
Simple gradients, simple props, or shadow around the base of a character are free.
More involved backgrounds for wash and color sketches range from $15-50 extra depending on complexity.
For renders backgrounds range from $50-200 extra depending on complexity.
Low complexity includes simple rendering of trees, buildings, etc to convey they exist, may be out of focus. Medium complexity includes more detailed/in focus surroundings. High complexity includes larger scenes featuring foreground, middleground, and background, and may include messy rooms, detailed foliage, detailed cityscapes, crowd scenes, etc.
Alts
Image alts such as separate outfits or expressions will always incur a fee that depends on how much will need to change.
Small alts that don't change up the overall silhouette or pose, such as expression changes, are $35 each for sketches and $75 for renders.
Any alts that change the pose of a limb or drastically change the overall silhouette will be an additional 50% of the base cost for each alt.
For painted renders alts become an hourly charge of $50 an hour.
If the entire character needs to be redrawn for a different pose this will cost extra, up to the same as adding a character.
$20 "Standard" (ink/lineart only)
$30 "Deluxe" (scribbly color)
Simple and small doodle badges done either with ink work only, or with ink and some rough scribbled in colors in marker. Markings are often off or imperfect, and linework is fairly fast and silly.
Characters can have their name or a silly phrase instead.
$120 Headshot Badge base price
$180 Waist up Badge base price
$250 Fullbody Badge base price
Copic marker traditional badges featuring a character with their name. These are laminated in .5 mil laminate with a rectangular hole punched in it. Badges are delivered at a convention or mailed out for extra. Traditional badges cost significantly more at a convention.
Sizes vary from 4x6 to 6x6 inches.
$100 Headshot Badge base price
$150 Waist up Badge base price
$200 Fullbody Badge base price
Digital line render badges featuring a character and their name. These are laminated in .5 mil laminate with a rectangular hole punched in it. Badges are delivered at a convention or mailed out for extra. Less than normal line renders due to smaller canvas size. Typically 4/5x6 inches when printed.
$100 Watercolor 2.5x3.5in Mini Portrait
$250 Watercolor 7x10in Wash base price + $50 for 9x12in paper
Watercolor paintings are done on cold or hot press papers, all 7x10in pieces are cold press. Washes are only a few layers, while full paintings will often be full or close to full saturation as the piece needs. Paintings tend to be somewhat mixed media, as I like playing with the effects of various metallic acrylics or mica watercolors as well. This of course depends on the piece though.Watercolor badges may be done on request, though I'm not sure how well the laminate will stay on them due to paper thickness. Watercolor badges will cost extra from marker badges as well.
$350 7x7 Watercolor Painting base price
$500 9x12 Watercolor Painting base price
More layers used than washes and more detail than I can get on a 2.5x3.5in card. Best to contact ahead of the piece to work out details for these.
Upon payment you agree to these terms of service.I reserve the right to refuse a commission for any reason, and refund a commission at any point in time during the commission process.Payment and refunds:
For sketch commissions, once a base/rough sketch has been approved the commission is non-refundable. For line renders, reference sheets, or paintings, a 50% refund may be issued if the commission is cancelled after the base/rough sketch has been approved. After flat colors are approved the commission is then non-refundable.All payments will be taken in USD via Paypal invoice only, invoices are expected to be paid within 7 days of being sent out. Work will not begin until payment is received in full. Payment plans are available for pieces exceeding $200.Displayed base prices are subject to change according to the complexity, difficulty, size and medium of each individual piece. Example: an armored character may incur a complexity charge, or an added background may incur a background fee.Clients must be 18 years or older to commission me.Image rights:
I reserve ALL rights to the final commissioned work including the right to make prints and merchandise (I will still ask if I intend to do this), and to alter the commissioned work to make it more generic for print at my discretion, and the right to utilize completed artworks for portfolio purposes, as well as posting online to galleries or social media. Image rights can be negotiated for an added fee.Clients retain all rights to their respective characters, this does not include rights to the commissioned image, and will be tagged appropriately on social media as preferred. If a commission is private, or needs to be posted at a later date for gift purposes, please let me know upfront.Commissioned artwork is for personal use only. The client may not profit from the artwork beyond the resale of a physical original painting or drawing (traditional media, not digital). This includes the sale of the digital files, rights to the image, minting Non-Fungible Tokens, any blockchain or cryptocurrency related technology.Clients may post their completed or work in progress images to social media, gallery websites, etc. As well as use them for banners, icons, personal printing, etc.Contact and ProcessWhen opening by form I'll send a message to the preferred contact provided if the idea has been chosen. Email is the best method of commissioning me to ensure that I receive client communications. I accept communications from direct messages on some websites as well, but cannot always guarantee seeing them on time.
If I have not replied to a message within 7 days, I encourage you to resend your email or direct message. Occasionally client messages are lost in the shuffle. I may not be available to answer emails or direct messages on holidays, scheduled days off (Sat-Sun), or emergencies.Clear and concise visual references (does not need to be a reference sheet) and description of a commission idea must be provided by the client. After which a preliminary quote will be provided by me.If there are no visual references available the client may provide a text reference for character designing at an added fee.
Please note that even a simple sketch (yes colored and noted over stick figures can count!) or base edit can work as a visual reference to not incur this fee. Client sketches are encouraged for better initial direction of a commission, and can be extremely helpful in realizing the intended idea.Client will be able to direct alterations of the work during the sketch/thumbnail stage, and again at the flat color stage. Requested revisions that diverge from the client's original commission description/references may increase the length of time a commission takes, and will be billed separately. Minor revisions (color fixes, shading errors, etc) can be made after the commission is complete.Critiques and redline corrections for commissions above $200 are welcomed to ensure the best result. Commissions under $200 are considered small works, thus revised sketches are not factored into the price. Redlines may still be provided if necessary for visual communication.Commission completion for small works (wash and color sketches) is generally within 2-3 months from start time. I am currently completing my final semesters of college while working fulltime, and will let the client know if any unseen delays occur. Larger works (sketchpages, reference sheets, renders, etc) can take 3-4 months.Excessive edits on sketch works will incur a fee or hourly rate of $45. Reference sheets often require more back and forth and edits to ensure the best outcome, edits for these are not limited.
